Merchandiser should have the following basic qualifications:

ü  Good command on English and adequate knowledge of technical terms and efficient communication. 

ü  Good knowledge of fiber, yarn, fabric, dyeing, printing, finishing, dyes. Color fastness, and garments production etc.

ü  Clear conception of the usual potential quality problems in the garments manufacturing.

ü  Good knowledge of the usual raw materials inspection systems and garments inspection systems.

ü  Knowledge of the quota system used in each of the producing countries, duty rates, customer regulations, shipping and banking documents etc.

Highlighting of merchandising works:

ü  To collect buyers address.

ü  To establish contact with the buyers sending formal letters/profile.

ü  Receiving buyers response and providing price quotation along with making of sample as counter or approval.

ü  Receiving samples comments from the buyer.

ü  To furnish the pro-forma invoice and sending the buyer.

ü  Taking necessary steps of the lab dip of the materials ( Fabric and accessories ).

ü  Receiving the master L/C from buyer and verify clauses  of the L/C both in technical and commercial point of view.

ü  To confirm floor booking of the order with the factory.

ü  To confirm transfer authentication of the L/C in favor of fact.

ü  Pushing the factory taking initial procurement to open the B/B L/C by bank.

ü  Searching reliable fabric and accessories sources and finalized supplying the required materials related to the order.

ü  To monitor the shipment of raw materials arrival in the factory.

ü  To monitor the supplying materials while receiving factory.

ü  To order the test with cutting and quality.

ü  To check/inspect/advise for the bulk production.

ü  To monitor production quality and delivery.

ü  To advise factory if buyer change any instruction both in technical or commercial point of view to the order.

ü  Collecting order from the buyers.

ü  Sending samples to the buyer for approval.

ü  Collecting accessories from different suppliers.

ü  Giving order to the specified garment factory.

ü  Communication with all the respective parties.

ü  Co-ordination the whole process at a regular manner.

Major functions of a merchandiser:

1.      Costing and development

2.      Order execution and follow up

3.      Marketing.
